Socially distanced camping as standard

Each pitch can be up to 10m x 10m and we ask all campers to leave at least 2 car widths from another pitch unless they are in the same family support bubble.

You’ll be able to take the rare opportunity of camping in this wonderful location and have access to the gardens from 2pm each day.

The whole site is the stage

There will be no live entertainment venues at Camper Site.
Instead, we are excited to announce that VDubRadio will be broadcasting live from Camper Site and direct to your pitch.
We will have live DJ’s ready to interact and provide shout outs and requests. Bringing the main stage to you, simply tune in to join the party from 8am until 10pm each day of Camper Site.

For the kids…
and the big kids alike.

Newby’s exciting Adventure Garden has been thoughtfully and safely designed for children of all ages

From swings for toddlers through to climbing frames and bridges, an aerial slide and pedalo boats for the older children.
Access is included for Camper Site visitors between 8am-11am and 4pm-8pm.

The Newby Hall Miniature Railway which runs along the River Ure, is a delightful ride with fantastic views of the gardens.

The Royal Scot Steam Locomotive is in action on Sundays and Bank Holidays. Every other day of the season, our gas locomotives run a regular service – and always on time! There is a small charge for taking the 12 minute ride on this 1.4km miniature railway.

We hope you will enjoy visiting Gyles Brandreth’s Teddy Bear Collection, housed in a new ‘paw’pose built home within the gardens at Newby Hall.

The Bears which have been lovingly collected over the years by Gyles and his wife Michele are permanently on show with an ever evolving display of new famous bears, along with bears in various guises and scenes. We want you to bring your own bear along for a selfie and of course, teddy bears’ picnics throughout the year!

Beautiful Gardens.

Camper Site residents will have access to Newby Hall’s award winning gardens each day.

There is so much to see at this time of the year and too much to list here, be sure to read all about them on the Newby Hall website before you visit.

The pergola (see pic) was originally designed to make an attractive approach to the Rock Garden.
Sandstone pillars and cross beams clad with Laburnum form a spectacular curtain of gold in late May to early June.

Entry and Departure

Our entrance and exit is completely contact free. Please have your e-ticket printed and on your dashboard at all times during your stay, we will scan this and your vehicle registration when you arrive.

Entry times are 12 noon until 8pm each day, arrivals outside of these times will be refused for safety reasons.
Once entered, vehicle movement is not allowed overnight between 8pm and 7am.
Please turn all engines off outside of these times.

You must leave no later than 12 noon on your checkout day. You can leave a little later on Sunday at 4pm.

Please follow signs to your chosen camping area where a steward will direct you.

Pitch Size and Layout

We’ll direct you to a camping area you’ve chosen where you can choose a space of no more than 10m x 10m per pitch and ask you to stick to this. This gives you plenty of space for your vehicle and any awnings/tents that may need to go up for you and your family. When arriving we ask that you keep a space of 2 car widths (about 5m) between you and another pitch, unless they are part of your ‘support bubble’ and camping with you.

Camping Areas

We’ll have three camping areas, all with plenty of space.

  • Family - Noise curfew of 10pm for families with young children and those who prefer quiet.

  • General - Noise curfew of midnight for older families who’d like to stay up a bit later.

  • Accessible - Pitches available closet to the amenities, please not this may be a bit noisier as a result. Please have your blue badge on display.

Health, Hygiene and Safety

Showing symptoms of Covid 19?

If you or any of your household are showing symptoms of Covid 19, do not visit. Follow government guidelines and self isolate.

Not showing symptoms?

Although not a requirement of entry, we do recommend that all visitors take part in the free NHS lateral flow testing service.
Anyone can take part and order a free testing kit to your door at https://www.gov.uk/order-coronavirus-rapid-lateral-flow-tests. You can also find on this website, locations where you can collect a test kit before you arrive, such as one of the testing sites in your area.

Hygiene

These grounds will have previously been used by grazing sheep and although there is a gap between them grazing and you camping there may still be some droppings left behind. If you or your children do come into contact, please wash your hands thoroughly and use hand sanitiser which is located outside of each toilet block.

Face Masks

As Camper Site is mostly outdoors there are currently no rules requiring face coverings to be worn however some indoor facilities may require a face mask.

First Aid

We have a first aid team on site 24 hours next to the food and drink area.

Food and Drink

Leave the BBQ behind, leave the cooking to someone else and support some of the very best independent street food vendors around! We have some seriously impressive food and drink for you catering for all tastes on site including a full service bar with draught lager, IPA and Cider.

Please bring a contactless payment card with you to use on the day as preferred to cash and maintain social distancing whilst queuing.

If you do wish to bring your own food. Fitted gas stoves inside vans can be used as well as gas stoves and BBQs raised onto tables or stands. Any cooking below table height is not allowed. Please do not take a barbecue inside a camper van, tent, or similar; in addition to the fire risk a barbecue gives off carbon-monoxide which can be fatal if inhaled. If using a disposable BBQ then please wait until it has cooled down completely before disposing of it in a bin.

Dogs

You are welcome to bring well behaved four legged family members but please keep them with you, on a lead at all times and of course clean up any of their mess. There are specific bins provided for dog waste.
Animals will not be allowed in certain areas such as gardens and playgrounds.

Toilets and facilities

There will be plenty of portable toilets as well as toilet blocks along the main tracks with hand sanitation stations outside of each. Our team of seasoned professionals have a thorough and regular cleaning routine.

If you prefer to bring your own portable toilet or have one as part of your camper, there’ll be elsan disposal points next to each toilet block.

We will have a shower block on site located close to the food and drink area toilet block.
Please maintain social distancing while queuing and ideally avoid the peak time of first thing in the morning. The showers will be open throughout the day and cleaned regularly. There will be a hand sanitisation station outside for use before and after a shower. Tip: Avoid the queues and get your shower in the afternoon!

There will be water points available in each camping area.

Electric Hookups

Camper Site is a temporary pop-up camp site, located in the beautiful grounds of stately homes. As such doesn’t have the infrastructure for electric hookups without costly diesel generators. I’m afraid we just can’t offer electric hookups so please bring your battery packs and live a little off grid. Thanks :)

Waste

We want to keep the grounds as beautiful as they were when we arrived. Please bring bin bags with you to either take rubbish away with you or for you to dispose of in the waste bins provided next to each of the toilet blocks.
